Washington: U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has stated that Iran is no longer capable of developing nuclear weapons following targeted strikes on its nuclear facilities.

In an interview with an American television network, Vice President Vance claimed that the U.S. has destroyed key elements of Iran's nuclear infrastructure through military action.

“With the equipment Iran currently possesses, it can no longer produce a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Vance further warned that if Iran attempts to revive its nuclear weapons program, the United States will respond with further military action.

This statement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Both nations have begun observing the truce.

President Trump had earlier posted on his social media platform that Israel and Iran had agreed to halt hostilities within six hours.

The report noted that Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani facilitated talks with Iranian leadership and secured Tehran’s agreement to the U.S.-proposed ceasefire.

The diplomatic effort followed a direct phone call from President Trump to the Emir of Qatar, requesting Doha’s assistance in persuading Tehran, after Israel had already signaled its readiness for a truce.
