Addressing a press conference in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that the PTI sit-in has not ended and will continue until further instructions are received from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
He emphasised that PTI's sit-in is part of an ongoing movement and will not end until their demands are met.
"Our protest is peaceful and aimed at demanding justice, but shots were fired at us during the sit-in," Gandapur said. "If there had been no violence against us, our people would not have responded."
CM KP stated that he will not rest until every one of his supporters who has been wrongfully arrested is freed.
He alleged that the PTI has faced oppression over the past two and a half years. "Our leader is in jail, his wife was also detained, and we are not receiving justice from the courts," he added.
Gandapur also addressed accusations against him, including the numerous cases filed after the May 9 incidents. "Show me a single video proving my involvement. Attempts were made to assassinate and kidnap me. If a chief minister cannot secure justice, what hope does the common man have?" he questioned.
The Chief Minister warned against suppressing the people’s rights through violence, stating, "This province knows how to claim its rights and mandate. Bullets cannot enslave a nation."
Paying tribute to party workers who participated in the protest, Gandapur announced the registration of an FIR against the violence.
He announced Rs1 crore compensation for the deceased PTI workers and also pledged Rs 10 million in compensation for the families of workers who lost their lives during the demonstrations.
