Mike Tyson has made a concerning admission about his recent fight with Jake Paul, casting doubt on why the bout was allowed to proceed.

Tyson, 58, made his professional boxing return last month to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, 27, in a highly anticipated event in Arlington, Texas.

The fight drew in over 60 million viewers on Netflix, but it ended in disappointment, with Tyson failing to show his former dominant form.

Tyson only landed 18 punches during the fight and was decisively beaten on points, with the judges scoring the bout 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in Paul’s favor.

Following the fight, Paul revealed that he deliberately held off in the later rounds to avoid hurting Tyson. "I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn't want to hurt someone who didn't need to be hurt," Paul said.

Tyson has now made a shocking revelation about the fight, admitting that he doesn’t remember much beyond the first round.

In an interview with Fox Sports Radio, he said, "I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little."

Reflecting on the fight’s events, Tyson added, "I remember coming back from the first round, and Jake was doing some kind of... I don’t know what he was doing [pretends to bow], and that’s the last thing I remember."

When asked about Paul's punching power, Tyson stated, "I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore after the fight. My chest, my stomach was really sore."

Tyson’s fight with Paul had been scheduled for July but was postponed due to a health scare, with Tyson suffering an ulcer flare-up during a flight months before the event.

Although Tyson downplayed health concerns ahead of the rescheduled bout, he later revealed that he had "almost died" following a severe health issue.

Tyson explained on social media that he had undergone eight blood transfusions, lost half his blood, and dropped 25 pounds while in the hospital.

Despite these challenges, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to step into the ring one last time, stating, "To have my children see me stand toe-to-toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for."

Before the fight, Paul claimed he would earn approximately $40 million (£31.5m), while Tyson was expected to earn significantly less, with reports suggesting his payout was around $20 million (£15.7m).
