Pakistani People's Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqui has strongly criticized renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, urging the public to boycott his drama serials due to what she described as his misogynistic views.
During her appearance on a sports-themed TV show hosted by Waseem Badami, Faruqui expressed her disdain for the writer without hesitation.
When prompted to give a piece of advice to Qamar during a game segment, she instantly responded, “Uff, I don’t like him or want to talk about him.” Upon further probing, she confirmed her disapproval was rooted in what she believes to be his anti-women rhetoric.
“He is such a misogynist,” she stated firmly, adding that women should refrain from working in his productions. “I think nobody should even watch his dramas, and producers should stop producing his serials,” Faruqui said, calling for a complete boycott.
She further justified her stance by referencing Qamar’s “below the belt” remarks, which she deemed inappropriate and unbecoming of a public figure.

In the same episode, Faruqui also addressed actor Danish Taimoor’s recent controversial remarks during a live show, labeling them “disgusting.”
However, she praised his wife, actress Ayeza Khan, for maintaining grace and composure in response.
Faruqui’s comments have since gone viral on social media, sparking a fresh wave of debate about gender sensitivity and accountability in the entertainment industry.
