A large consignment of crude oil and gas are on way to Pakistan as several oil tankers carrying petroleum and gasoline products are expected to arrive at Karachi’s Port Trusts (KPT) during the next 24 hours

According to KPT officials, MT Shalimar will arrive at Karachi Port which is carrying approximately 73,000 metric tons of crude oil.

The tanker MT Liangui Ho will also arrive carrying 55,000 metric tons of gasoline. MT Khairpur will arrive at Karachi Port carrying approximately 45,000 metric tons of high-speed diesel. MT Sargodha will also anchor at the port with 73,000 metric tons of crude oil. 

146,000 metric tons of crude oil, 55,000 metric tons of Mogas, and 45,000 metric tons of gas oil are expected to arrive at Karachi Port in the next 24 hours. Total import of petroleum products will exceed 246,000 metric tons. 

The ship Songa Neptune will also bring about 4,000 tonnes of chemicals, which will provide raw materials for the industrial sector.

The large import of crude oil, Mogas and diesel will play an important role in maintaining the abundant reserves of petrol, diesel and other petroleum products in the country and strengthening the supply chain.

Experts said the imports of petroleum products will help in meeting local demand and also help in bringing stability to the energy sector. 

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry expresses satisfaction over Karachi Port’s performance as 19 ships were scheduled to arrive and one ship to depart at Karachi Port Trust today.
