A viral video circulating on social media falsely depicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan in an intimate encounter with two women in his youth. However, the clip was fabricated with the help of AI tools.
The video was initially shared on X by an account named @DrSyeda_Sadaf, accompanied by harsh captions against Imran Khan. In the manipulated footage, Khan appears to kiss two women at an event.
The post garnered 80,000 views, over 1,000 likes, and 700 reposts.
Using Google Reverse Image Search, Geo News discovered that one of the women featured in the video was Ghislaine Maxwell, the former British socialite who was recently convicted.
The original photograph was traced to Shutterstock, which stated it was taken at London’s Savoy Hotel in 1990.
The second woman in the fabricated video remains unidentified.
Experts noted several visual inconsistencies in the video, highlighting its AI-generated nature.
Signs included the unnaturally bright background, the overly smooth appearance of Imran Khan’s and the women’s faces, and unnatural movements as they turn to kiss each other.
These flaws align with common indicators of AI-manipulated media, as outlined by the MIT Media Lab.
The rising trend of AI-generated videos placing individuals in compromising or false situations has become a growing concern.
Public figures, including celebrities and politicians worldwide, have increasingly become targets of such digital manipulation.
