The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) has introduced a strict dress code policy, prohibiting students from wearing T-shirts and jeans to maintain the "dignity and sanctity" of the institution.
The new policy requires students and staff to wear decent attire that aligns with local cultural and religious values.
Female students are required to wear shalwar qameez and dupatta or gown, while male students must wear dress pants and colored shirts or shalwar qameez.
Students are also advised to keep their hair clean and styled in a way that doesn't draw unnecessary attention. Long hair must be tied back, and sunglasses are only permitted outdoors.
As per the dress code, students should not wear the following dresses
- Tight or see-through clothing
- Shorts or sleeveless shirts
- T-shirts with provocative language or art
- Torn clothing
- Jogging or exercise clothing during classes
- Excessive makeup or expensive jewelry
- Untidy, gaudy, or immodest dress
- Unprofessional attire in formal programs and interviews
- Explicit dresses
- Bare feet
The university has warned that disciplinary action will be taken against students who fail to comply with the new dress code policy.
