APS attack survivor Ahmad Nawaz honored with British Empire Medal

LONDON: Ahmad Nawaz, a survivor of the tragic Army Public School (APS) attack, has been awarded the prestigious British Empire Medal by King Charles III for his exceptional contributions to youth empowerment on a global scale.
Nawaz shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his gratitude for the recognition.
“I have received the British Empire Medal from HM King Charles III,” he wrote, posting photos of himself with the award. “Very grateful to have received this honor for my advocacy and commitment to youth empowerment.”
He further stated his anticipation of meeting the King at Buckingham Palace this summer, where he plans to highlight the challenges faced by young people worldwide.
“Very thankful to all my friends and supporters, without whom such milestones wouldn’t have been possible,” he added.

A decade ago, Nawaz was attending a lecture at APS when the school came under attack. He sustained a gunshot wound to his arm but survived the harrowing incident.
Since then, he has become a vocal advocate for education and youth development, earning international recognition for his efforts.
