A devastating explosion reported near Zero Point in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district claimed the lives of four children and left 38 others injured when a school bus was targeted early Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.

Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti said the blast struck as the bus carrying schoolchildren passed through the area.

Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies swiftly rushed to the scene, transported the injured to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Khuzdar for medical treatment.

Authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the nature and source of the blast. “Evidence is being collected from the site of the explosion,” DC Dashti said, adding that security measures have been tightened in and around the district.

It should be noted that Indian-sponsored terrorism has been increasing in Balochistan in recent days. Terrorists from banned organisations were trying to intensify their operations to target innocent civilians, however, security forces have foiled several of their attacks.

Earlier, on May 6,  before Indian attacks on Pakistan, at least seven Pakistani security personnel were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the Mach area of Balochistan’s Kachhi district, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
