An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari, and nine others accused in charges of attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) on May 9, 2023, during unrest over former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest.

ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the case at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where the PTI founder Imran Khan, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and nine other accused individuals were presented during the hearing.

Among those presented to the court were Shireen Mazari, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Khadim Hussain, Zakirullah, Azeemullah Khan, Major Tahir Sadiq, Mehar Muhammad Javed, Colonel Ajmal, Sabir Raja, Sikandar Zeb, and Chaudhary Asif.

However, three individuals, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, refused to sign the charge sheet.

They argued that the prosecutor did not provide complete evidence regarding the GHQ attack case and requested that the court hear their petition under Section 265-D first.

They stated that they would sign the charge sheet after the court would issue a ruling on their petition.

As a result, the court postponed the indictment of the three suspects while the remaining nine were indicted in the case.

Fawad Chaudhry, Babar Awan, Sheikh Rashid, and other leaders were also present and met Imran Khan, while Shah Mehmood Qureshi was transferred to Lahore from Adiala Jail under strict police security.
