Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the recent resurgence of terrorism in the country is linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Atta Tarar said that terrorists have no religion or faith, and their sole ideology is to spread fear.

He added that robust security measures are being taken to protect mosques, imambargahs and other sensitive locations.

He said it has become clear that the suicide bomber had travelled to Afghanistan, stressing that terrorists would be pursued under all circumstances.

“There is no space for terrorists in this country. We will not rest until they are eliminated,” he said.

The information minister stated that terrorists usually target soft targets, adding that the handlers involved in the attack have been identified and will be made an example of.

He confirmed that the identity of the suicide bomber has also been established and investigations are being taken forward accordingly.

Atta Tarar further said that suicide attacks had come to an end in the past, but later a government came to power under which some claimed that militants were peaceful people and should be engaged through dialogue. “Pakistani citizens are now paying the price for this mindset,” he remarked.

He added that terrorism had previously been eliminated from the area after militants were driven out, but claimed that the return of terrorism was a direct result of PTI’s policies.
