Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, while speaking to the media, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Pakistan Armed Forces.
"We will extend all possible support to our armed forces; this is not just their need, but Pakistan’s collective necessity," the minister stated.
Commenting on the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Aurangzeb revealed that attempts were made to derail Pakistan’s loan program at the IMF Board level.
“Efforts were made to delay the meeting and block Pakistan’s agenda from being discussed,” he said.
Despite these challenges, Aurangzeb noted that Pakistan’s case was heard on merit, and all IMF-set targets have been successfully met.

“Had we not achieved the targets, we would have faced serious difficulties,” he added.
The finance minister confirmed that the IMF mission has concluded its visit and returned, following what he described as “constructive discussions.”
He emphasized that Pakistan enjoys the IMF’s full support and that implementation of the current IMF program will continue. Virtual discussions with the IMF are scheduled to resume this week.
Addressing salary speculation, Aurangzeb clarified that no final decision has been made regarding civil and military pay revisions.
