ISLAMABAD – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, has levelled serious allegations of financial corruption against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accusing her of mismanaging public funds and being involved in irregularities worth Rs10 trillion.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Barrister Saif referred to the latest audit report, claiming it exposes large-scale financial misconduct under the Punjab government's current leadership.

He criticized the Punjab administration for its failure to respond to the findings.

“The silence of the Punjab government is telling. The audit report confirms the misuse of public money on a massive scale,” he alleged.

Saif further claimed that several development projects launched under CM Maryam Nawaz are driven not by public interest, but by the opportunity for kickbacks and financial gain.

He accused the Punjab leadership of deceiving the public with slogans of progress while hiding widespread fiscal irregularities.

“People are being misled, and public resources are being looted under the cover of development,” he stated.

Barrister Saif warned that the current audit only reflects the first year of Maryam Nawaz’s tenure, adding that more “damaging disclosures” may emerge in subsequent reports.

His remarks come amid escalating political rivalry between the PTI-led government in KP and the PML-N-led Punjab administration, with both sides regularly trading accusations of misgovernance and political exploitation.

In a separate statement, Barrister Saif also criticized CM Maryam Nawaz for allegedly politicizing the recent Swat incident, urging restraint on sensitive matters.

“Such incidents should be dealt with responsibly, not exploited for political mileage,” he said, noting that an official committee has already been constituted to investigate the matter.
