Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has confirmed that he will attend the annual National Prayer Breakfast hosted by US President Donald Trump, in a personal capacity.

The announcement was made by Bilawal on Friday, responding to media inquiries about his participation in the event.

Bilawal clarified that while the news had been reported by media outlets, he noted that the details about his visit to the US should be directed to the press. "I will definitely go for breakfast, a tradition that has continued since my mother’s tenure," Bilawal stated.

He also mentioned the possibility of meeting with friends of his late mother, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, during the event.

The PPP Chairman emphasised that his trip to the US was not an official government visit as he is neither a minister nor a government representative. "This is a personal visit," he added.

In 2017, PPP Co-chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari had attended the pre-inauguration ceremony for President Trump in Washington, DC. Bilawal's visit, however, will be a separate personal event, not associated with any official government role.

Regarding the composition of the current government, Bilawal confirmed that PPP will not be joining the cabinet. He also expressed confidence that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will "Insha'Allah" complete his five-year term as head of government.

Bilawal addressed questions about the absence of Pakistan’s foreign minister at Trump's oath-taking ceremony, noting that India's foreign minister was invited in line with the geopolitical context of the US-China relationship.

"Pakistan's foreign policy remains firmly in place. Our nuclear assets and missile technology are a legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto," he added.

Bilawal’s participation in the National Prayer Breakfast is expected to draw attention, given the PPP's historical ties with the United States and the current political climate.
