PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has confirmed that doctors had advised a medical procedure for former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, warning that delaying it could have put his eyesight at risk.
Gohar said that three months after the last meeting, Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was allowed to meet family members, including her daughter Mubashra Sheikh and daughter-in-law Mehr-un-Nisa, at Adiala Jail.
Imran Khan was not present during the visit.
Speaking to the media outside the jail, Barrister Gohar said that Bushra Bibi relayed two messages regarding Imran Khan’s health.
She confirmed that he had been taken to PIMS hospital for the recommended procedure and that his condition had slightly improved prior to the treatment.
“The doctors advised the procedure to prevent potential permanent damage to his eye,” Gohar said, adding that the former prime minister had agreed to the hospital visit of his own accord.
Gohar emphasised that the meeting was purely family-related and did not involve discussions about political matters or the events of 8 February.
He criticised restrictions on family visits, stating, “Family meetings must happen without hindrance. Denying them only creates more problems.”
The PTI chairman reiterated that he himself has had no recent meetings with Imran Khan, adding that family access should not be politicised and that consistent rules should apply to all political figures in custody.
