An accountability court on Monday approved the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, in a new Toshakhana reference.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the NAB court heard the case at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where the couple is incarcerated.
During the hearing, Imran Khan’s counsel Salman Safdar, NAB’s deputy director Mohsin Haroon, Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, and others appeared before the court.
The accountability department's officials informed the court that the handwritten statements of Imran Khan and his wife were handed over to the Nab team.
For further investigation, the court granted a 14-day judicial remand of the former premier and his wife and adjourned the hearing until September 2.
It is pertinent to mention here that a fresh Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan and his wife was opened in July after the couple was acquitted in an un-Islamic nikkah case.
The new graft case claimed that Mr and Mrs Imran retained a jewellery set received from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman at an undervalued assessment.
