Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that 274 members of the Taliban regime and affiliated militants were killed and more than 400 injured during Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the military spokesperson said the operation was conducted on the night between 21 and 22 February, with the objective of targeting militant hideouts in border areas and ensuring national security.

He stated that firing was initiated across 15 sectors along the Pak–Afghan border, with a total of 53 locations coming under attack.

According to him, Pakistani forces responded swiftly and effectively at all points.

Lt Gen Chaudhry claimed that 73 posts were destroyed and 18 taken into Pakistani control. He said operations targeted multiple areas, including Kabul, Paktia, Kandahar and Paktika.

According to the army, air strikes hit various military installations, command centres, brigade positions and logistics bases.

The spokesperson maintained that all targets were military in nature and that care was taken to ensure the safety of Afghan civilians.

He further claimed that 115 tanks, armoured vehicles and other military assets were destroyed, along with militant hideouts and ammunition depots. Attempts to carry out attacks using quadcopters were also thwarted, he added.

The DG ISPR said that 12 Pakistani soldiers were martyred during the operation, 27 were injured and one remains missing.

He said the nation takes pride in the sacrifices of its soldiers and that the armed forces remain ready to defend the country’s borders and sovereignty at all costs.

He reiterated Pakistan’s position that Afghan soil should not be used for terrorism against any country and said Islamabad had repeatedly called for effective action against militant elements.

Lt Gen Chaudhry concluded by warning that those involved in terrorism, as well as their facilitators, would not be allowed to operate with impunity.

He added that operations would continue in line with national policy and stressed the need for political unity on matters of national security.
