"Don’t use mobile phones while driving”: Maryam Nawaz urges road safety

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has emphasized the need to prevent road accidents, urging the public not to use mobile phones while driving, noting that thousands of families lose their loved ones every year.
In her message on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, the Chief Minister said that every year, thousands of families are separated from their loved ones due to traffic accidents—a tragedy that is unbearable for any heart.
She urged citizens to exercise caution on the roads, follow traffic rules, and prioritize their own safety as well as the safety of others.
Appealing to the public, the Chief Minister said that mobile phones must never be used while driving and that speed limits should always be observed.
She added that pedestrians should be given the right of way and that drivers must remain vigilant at all times.
Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government is implementing comprehensive and effective measures to make roads safer.
She noted that stricter fines and penalties have been introduced for traffic violations across the province.
She added that regular vehicle fitness tests are being conducted to help reduce the number of accidents.
Safe City projects and modern traffic management systems in various districts are helping ensure public safety.
The Punjab chief minister said that if everyone acts responsibly on the roads, accidents will decrease and lives will be protected.
