Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar will undertake a one-day visit to Istanbul on Monday to participate in the Coordination Meeting of Arab-Islamic Foreign Ministers on the Gaza ceasefire, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Sunday.

The meeting, hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, will focus on implementing the Gaza Peace Agreement and strengthening regional efforts to consolidate the ceasefire.

According to the FO statement, Pakistan — which has been an active participant in the Arab-Islamic peace initiative that facilitated the Gaza Peace Agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh — will stress the importance of fully enforcing the truce and ensuring Israel’s complete withdrawal from the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly Gaza.

“Pakistan will also call for the provision of unfettered humanitarian assistance to Palestinians and the reconstruction of Gaza,” the FO said.

Islamabad is expected to reaffirm its longstanding support for a viable, independent, and contiguous State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

“Pakistan has been, and will continue to be, committed to efforts to restore peace, justice, and dignity to the Palestinian people, as well as to ensure the realisation of their right to self-determination,” the statement conclude
