Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik recently moved his audience to tears during a lecture in Karachi, when he fulfilled the heartfelt wish of a blind man who had travelled from Hyderabad to meet him.
The emotionally charged moment unfolded when the blind man asked the cleric if he would accept Pakistani nationality if offered. However, his true desire lay elsewhere.
"I am blind. I was able to see you on Peace TV Urdu, but then I lost my eyesight. I have a wish to touch you as I love you so much. I hope you will fulfill my wish," the man pleaded, overcome with emotion.
Dr Naik's response was immediate and heartfelt. "I love you too," he said, before addressing the man's initial question.
The globally celebrated personality then revealed that he was offered nationality by 15 countries but would only consider accepting Pakistani nationality when the "laws of Shariat are enforced in the country".
"In Shaa Allah, I will definitely come and ask myself for the nationality."
True to his word, Mr Zakir then invited the blind man on stage, warmly embracing him and fulfilling his cherished wish.
Dr Naik is currently in Pakistan for a month-long visit, which began on September 30.
Upon his arrival at Islamabad airport, he was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Additional Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Syed Dr Attaur Rehman, Parliamentary Secretary Religious Affairs Shamsheer Ali Mazari, and other dignitaries.
A day earlier, the globally celebrated personality included his public lectures in the metropolis.
Mr Naik will hold private meetings from October 7 to 10 in the port city.
He will then travel to Lahore and deliver lectures on October 12 and 13, and later in Islamabad on October 19 and 20.
These events will be broadcast live on Peace TV, allowing a broader audience to benefit from Dr. Naik's expertise in comparative religion.
