DSP couple wounded in Shikarpur encounter with “kacha” dacoits

An encounter between Rangers assisted by police and the ‘’kacha’’ decoits took place after they robbed Rs2.6 million cash from a trader in Shikarpur’s Anaj Mandi on Tuesday. The encounter lasted for several hours in Syed Manchar Shah locality in the outskirts of the city.

The armed suspects opened fire, leaving two senior officers, Paras Bakhrani and Zahoor Soomro (both DSPs), seriously wounded, and the fierce combat resulted in least six decoits being killed. 

The suspects belonged to the village-graveyard locality of Manchhar Shah, famous for accommodating ‘’kaccha’’ criminals.

DSP Bakhrani took two bullet hits and DSP Soomro took one, along with two other constables. Official reports confirmed six dead and three injured suspects admitted to Shikarpur Civil Hospital. 

A large number of weapons was seized during the raid. Still four to five more suspects are under hiding in the surrounding area and the police is on active hunt for them. 

The Sindh government assured that the DSPs, will receive full medical support, including air-ambulance transfer if needed. 

The residents of Shikarpur are commending the brave encounter and courage shown by the police couple, and their efforts in eradicating crime from the area.
