The International Astronomical Center has confirmed that the Shawwal moon will not be visible on March 29 across Arab and other Islamic countries, as the moon will set before sunset.

This makes sighting impossible by both the naked eye and telescopes.

As a result, most countries will observe a 30-day Ramadan, with Eid-ul-Fitr expected to be celebrated on March 31 in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and other Islamic nations.

However, some countries, including Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, will experience a partial solar eclipse on March 29.

Based on their traditional moon-sighting practices, these nations may declare Eid on Sunday, March 30.

In Pakistan, the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has also predicted that the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30, aligning with the likelihood of Eid being observed on March 31, 2025.

The federal government has announced a three-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, as per a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

Meanwhile, provincial governments have yet to announce their respective holiday schedules for the festive occasion.
