Elephant Madhubala will be shifted to Karachi’s Safari Park in order to provide a safe and healthy environment to her, announced by Four Paws, an animal rights organisation.
Following the completion of the park’s adaptation work, Madhubhala will reunite with her sister after 15 years.
Four Paws’ Dr Amir Khalil will visit Karachi with his team soon to oversee the preparations for relocating the animal.
Earlier, in a press statement, the organisation said it is a significant milestone in the efforts to ensure the safe relocation of an African Elephant.
The final preparations are underway at Safari Park, including completing the enclosure landscape and training all three elephants.
It is pertinent to mention here that Madhubala has been undergoing confinement at Karachi Zoo since 2023. She was suffering from mental strains due to being alone.
17-year-old Noor Jahan, who died earlier in 2023 due to a prolonged ailment because of poor living conditions, was the only companion of the African Elephant at Karachi Zoo.
Following Noor Jahan’s death, the administration announced the relocation of Madhubala to Safari Park due to health risks.
The relocation is intended to save Madhubala from illness and facilitate a reunion with her family at the Safari Park.
