JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has asserted that the Madrassa Registration Bill has already become an act and vowed to oppose any amendments.
Addressing the National Assembly on Tuesday, he warned that presenting the bill again without recognising its status as law would violate the constitution.
He clarified that the bill automatically became an act after the president's objections were resolved and the NA speaker corrected it.
“The president no longer has the power to block it after 10 days,” he said.
The JUI-F leader criticised delays in madrassa registrations and accused the government of ignoring parliament's authority.
Fazl Rehman defended seminaries, rejecting their division into “religious” and “modern” categories, while highlighting the academic success of madrassa students.
He also accused bureaucrats of undermining religious education, warning against any interference in the curriculum.
