Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh expressed his deep admiration for Pakistan’s former prime minister, Imran Khan, lamenting that he has been imprisoned when he should be celebrated as a 'hero.'
In a recent interview, Yograj shared his thoughts on Pakistan’s cricket struggles following the team's early exit from the Champions Trophy. He also sympathised with Imran Khan, praising him as a leader he deeply respects and holds close to his heart.
When asked about Imran Khan’s imprisonment, Yograj said, “My heart aches. I want to tell the people and political system of Pakistan, finding a Koh-i-Noor is rare, don’t break it.” He emphasised that Khan should be heard and given a fair chance, adding that he wishes to see Pakistan prosper and live in harmony with its neighbors.

Expressing his desire to meet Imran Khan, he stated, “I want to tell him that he is on the right path, and God is with him.” He further questioned "Why has a hero like Khan been jailed?" instead of being allowed to contribute to Pakistan’s progress.
Earlier, Yograj, who is also the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, offered to help rebuild Pakistan’s struggling cricket team. He claimed that, given the opportunity, he could transform the team within a year.

"If I go there, I will improve the team within a year. You will all remember me. It’s all about passion," he said adding that he dedicates 12 hours a day to cricket training.
He also criticised former Pakistani cricketers, arguing that merely offering commentary and harsh criticism would not improve the team. Instead, he urged them to step onto the field and contribute to the players’ development.
