Fourth spell of monsoon rains to hit Punjab tomorrow

The fourth spell of monsoon will begin in Punjab tomorrow, Sunday, while rain is also expected today in various parts of Sindh, Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The new weather system is expected to impact multiple cities in Punjab, including Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan.
Authorities have issued alerts to relevant departments to remain vigilant in view of potential flooding and landslides.
In Sargodha, heavy rainfall has inundated several low-lying areas, while rainwater has entered residential villages in Hafizabad. In Chakwal, rains have caused damage to infrastructure, with several key roads reportedly washed away.
In Renala Khurd, a rainwater drain broke, flooding nearby agricultural fields. Low-level flooding has also been reported in Jhelum as river and dam water levels continue to rise across the country.
Low-level flooding has been recorded in Indus River at Kalabagh, Guddu, Chashma, Taunsa, and Sukkur Barrage.
Balochistan has also been hit hard, with roads in Barkhan, Sibi, Musakhel, and Zhob sustaining damage and standing crops destroyed across several areas.
The Meteorological Department has reiterated that more rain is likely in parts of Sindh, Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir today, warning of a continued risk of flooding and landslides.
