Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan delivered a fiery speech in the National Assembly on Tuesday, demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He also called for justice for PTI workers who were shot during protests in Islamabad.
Khan strongly criticised the government's approach, stating, “Imran Khan will come out. If you think you can govern the country by keeping him behind him, then try it. We don’t seek negotiations, we demand justice for the blood shed at D Chowk.”
He further challenged the government's claim that the workers were not sh0t at, questioning, "Who was responsible for the violence then?"
During the National Assembly session, Ali Muhammad Khan emphasised that politicians are meant to engage in dialogue, not violence. He pointed out that during the PPP and JUI-led long marches in the past, no one resorted to shooting.
He added that Pakistan's independence was not won through force but through political struggle, as exemplified by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Khan lamented the current political climate, and culture of bribery and corruption.
"We should be ashamed of this hypocrisy. When will we come together for the nation?"
Khan also marked December 16 as the darkest day in Pakistan's history, recalling the country's failure to grant rights to East Pakistan, which eventually led to the creation of Bangladesh.
"What would have happened if they had been allowed to form the government?" he asked.
Khan expressed gratitude that his party does not bear responsibility for anyone's bloodshed, declaring, "The martyrdom of the Rangers is not only yours but ours as well. We seek justice for the blood shed at D-Chowk, nothing more."
