The Senate Standing Committee on Interior, chaired by Senator Faisal Saleem, was informed that hackers have defrauded several members of parliament of hundreds of thousands of rupees through online scams.
During the committee meeting, Senator Saifullah Abro revealed that the hacker group typically demands between Rs 500,000 and Rs 550,000 from its victims.
It was disclosed that Rs 850,000 were withdrawn from Senator Dilawar Khan’s account, while Senator Falak Naz Chitrali was defrauded of Rs 500,000 in two separate transactions.
The senator said the hackers posed as representatives of a counseling center and deceived her over the phone.
Senator Falak Naz further stated that the hackers had complete personal and family data, including information about her children. She added that despite filing complaints with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), no action was taken.
Following these revelations, other committee members expressed serious concern and stressed the need to curb hacker activity and online financial fraud.
The Senate committee meeting is still in progress, and further details will be shared as they emerge.
