The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a public holiday marking Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted in 1998.
In an official notice issued on Monday, the PSX informed stakeholders that the closure aligns with the public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan.
"Youm-e-Takbeer is observed annually to commemorate Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests carried out on May 28, 1998, in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan," the notice said.

These tests established Pakistan as the world’s seventh nuclear-armed state and the first Muslim-majority country to acquire nuclear capability. The tests were intended to strengthen Pakistan’s strategic deterrence in the region.
