Hungary has announced 400 fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students as part of efforts to expand educational cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties with Pakistan.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference in Islamabad, attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

The event also marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The two sides signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to boost collaboration in areas including trade, industry, and cultural exchange.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar lauded Hungary as a reliable partner, particularly highlighting its support for Pakistan’s industrial sector through companies like the Mughal Group.

Discussions also covered regional security, including the situation in Afghanistan.

The Hungarian foreign minister commended Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and expressed support for its peace efforts.

The two leaders also addressed broader international concerns, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the conflict in Ukraine, voicing a shared desire for peace in these regions.

Regarding the newly announced scholarships, Foreign Minister Szijjártó said that around 1,700 applications had already been received, underscoring the program's popularity.
