Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that she adheres to the principles of Hazrat Umar (RA), the second caliph of Islam, in her governance model.

The remarks from the provincial head came during a meeting with Imam of Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) Dr Salah bin Mohammad Al-Budair on Monday.

CM Maryam extended a warm welcome to Al-Budair, underscoring the strong bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

She expressed pride in the Sharif family’s deep-rooted and amicable ties with the Saudi royal family.

"Pakistan is your second home," she told the dignitary.

She praised Hazrat Umar (RA) as a role model for rulers in governance and asserted her intention to align her administration with his leadership style.

"Madina is our powerhouse. While I may not be as familiar with Lahore, I know every inch of the holy city of Madina," she said.

Punjab's first woman CM prayed for the crown prince Muhammad bin Salman’s wellbeing saying that they share a common vision of serving people effectively.

She also praised the Imam of Masjid-e-Nabvi's recitation, which she found emotionally stirring, adding that it was an honour for Pakistan to host such an esteemed personality.

The Imam of Masjid Nabvi stated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have an unbreakable bond, similar to two stars shining brightly together in the night sky.
