A murder case has been registered against Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and key PTI leaders following the deaths of three Rangers personnel during the party’s protest in Islamabad last month.
The FIR, lodged at Islamabad’s Ramna Police Station, accuses the PTI leadership of orchestrating the violence that led to the killings.
The FIR claims the deadly incident occurred as part of a plan directed by Khan from Adiala Jail, where he has been incarcerated for more than a year.
Alongside Khan and Bushra Bibi, several senior PTI figures, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur, National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan, and others, have been named in the case.
The FIR alleges that Bushra Bibi and other accused incited mutiny through a video message that fueled the violence during the protest.
The incident occurred when a vehicle struck the three Rangers personnel, who were providing security for the PTI demonstration.
The PTI leadership has been charged with terrorism and multiple criminal offenses related to the deaths.
The PTI protest, intended to secure Khan's release, turned violent after clashes broke out between protesters and law enforcement.
While the PTI claims that 12 of its workers were killed and over 1,000 arrested, the government has denied using live ammunition and reports that four law enforcement officers, including the three Rangers, lost their lives during the clashes.
