Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has raised concerns about foreign interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs, specifically regarding recent statements from US lawmakers supporting PTI founder Imran Khan.
He questioned the motives behind such statements, particularly from those who have previously been critical of Pakistan’s nuclear program.
During a public gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the 17th death anniversary of his mother, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal emphasised that international powers appear to be targeting Pakistan’s nuclear and missile capabilities, which were developed under the leadership of his grandfather, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and mother, Benazir Bhutto.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the statements issued by U.S. lawmakers, calling them “excuses” for undermining Pakistan's sovereignty and security.
Bilawal stressed that these remarks were not just about Imran Khan’s release but were part of a larger plot to weaken Pakistan’s defense capabilities.
"Why are those who once criticized our nuclear program now speaking up for Imran Khan?" Bilawal questioned. He accused these foreign powers of aiming to pave the way for a government in Pakistan that would be willing to negotiate on the country’s nuclear program, something he called unacceptable.
The PPP chairman called for unity among political parties to safeguard the country’s interests, saying that domestic politics should be set aside when dealing with matters of national security. He also asserted that the current PML-N-led government did not have the mandate to make unilateral decisions regarding such crucial issues.
While remembering his mother’s legacy, Bilawal paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto for her unwavering commitment to her ideals and her tireless fight for the vulnerable segments of society.
