An accountability court on Monday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, in a new Toshakhana reference.

NAB court Judge Nasir Javed heard the new case against the former prime minister and his wife pertaining to retaining a jewellery set received from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

During the proceedings, Imran Khan’s counsel, Salman Safdar, claimed that the new reference was similar to the previous. He noted that two references could not be made to the same allegations.

Pleading for the previous judicial records, the NAB prosecutor said that the record could prove whether both references were similar or not.

However, the request was rejected after hearing the arguments from the parties in the case, and the court extended the couple's judicial remand till September 16.

Apart from this, Mr and Mrs Khan's petition seeking bail after the arrest was fixed for a hearing on September 6.

It is pertinent to mention here that the details of a new reference against the couple had surfaced on August 20.

The details claimed that the Saudi Crown Prince had visited Pakistan from May 7 to 10, 2021. He gifted the couple a jewellery set consisting of a ring, bracelet, necklace, and earrings, and former prime minister Imran Khan retained a set illegally.
