Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan recognised the government's efforts to stablise the economy. This acknowledgment comes at a time when his party is actively negotiating for an end to his prolonged incarceration.
Speaking to the journalists inside Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, the former Prime Minister, said that the government successfully averted the economic bankruptcy.
He stated that while economic stability averted the risk of national bankruptcy following the government's response to the economic crisis, the government has yet to achieve significant economic growth.
Imran Khan’s statement came after he met with the PTI negotiation committee, who briefed him about the first round of the talks.
However, these talks hint toward the political stability in the country, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed optimism regarding a resolution to the long-standing feud between the ruling party and the opposition.
“I do not doubt anyone’s intentions. I hope both PTI and the government will bring about the outcomes for the country’s benefits and promote economic stability,” PM Shehbaz said in his remarks during the cabinet meeting.
“This is a good initiative of the National Assembly speaker. We will contribute with sincerity. But it takes two to tango. I hope both parties will play their part to serve the national interests and promote national stability,” the prime minister added.
