Following a protest march to Islamabad in November that led to clashes between party workers and security personnel, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has presented two key demands to the government.
Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, conveyed his message while addressing journalists outside Adiala Jail. She outlined the former prime minister’s concerns and demands
“The cruel system will end if people are no longer treated like cattle,” Aleema Khan stated. She accused the government of intimidation, adding, “The government has demolished people’s homes and women have faced unprecedented harassment.”
On November 26, the people were “targeted with sniper, and 150 vanished after operation in Jinnah Avenue,” you have ended the democracy, said Aleema Khan while criticisng authorities.
Assembly, judiciary, and media have been weakened, Aleema said, “No investment is coming to Pakistan under these circumstances.”
Sharing details of Imran Khan’s demands, she said that he is calling for the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising Supreme Court judges to thoroughly investigate the incidents of November 26.
In addition to the call for a JIT, Imran Khan is advocating for open dialogue with the government. However, he clarified that PTI’s committee has only engaged in discussions with the establishment, not with other political entities.
Addressing recent interactions with Barrister Gohar, Aleema Khan remarked, “I have objected to the fact that only 12 people were martyred while many remain missing or are imprisoned. Their families are seeking answers. We are addressing this as a humanitarian issue, not a political one. I am angered by the number of missing persons and the abuse being inflicted upon them.”
