Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are expected to be released from jail on June 27 (tomorrow), sources said on Wednesday.
A local court in Islamabad will announce the reserved verdict in the un-Islamic nikkah case tomorrow.
According to sources, the district and sessions court is expected to announce the verdict in favour of the former prime minister and his wife.
The veteran politician was serving his jail terms in the Toshakhana case, cipher case, £190 million corruption case and Iddat case.
However, his sentences were overturned by the courts in the Toshakhana, cipher and Al-Qadir Trust corruption cases.
If Imran gets relief in the Iddat case, he will be freed from the jail, sources said.
On the other hand, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah said that the government would try to keep Imran behind bars "as long as possible".
It's pertinent to mention here that the cricket-turned-politician has been in jail since August last year.
