Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has penned a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, expressing his discontent with the 'establishment's policies' and advocating for a reassessment of its strategies concerning national security and governance.
Sent from Adiala Jail, the letter underscores Imran's apprehensions regarding what he perceives as an increasing rift between the military and the populace.
Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, a lawyer for PTI, shared the letter's contents with the media, revealing that Imran stressed the necessity for national unity in the fight against terrorism, asserting that success in this endeavor hinges on the collective support of the nation for the armed forces.
Imran contended that the establishment is supporting individuals who have previously profited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), alluding to historical political agreements that permitted leaders to escape corruption allegations.

He also expressed worries about the nation’s economic challenges, the integrity of the recent general elections, and the government's actions against his party.
The letter reportedly outlines six significant points, urging the army chief to reevaluate specific policies. Imran asserted that current approaches are 'breeding public discontent and exacerbating the divide between civilians and the military.'
Additionally, he addressed concerns related to the Protection of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), state-sponsored actions against PTI, and the involvement of intelligence agencies.
PTI officials have characterized the letter as a direct request for a policy change, while representatives of the government have yet to respond. The military has not released any formal statement regarding the correspondence.
