Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has threatened to go on a hunger strike against the ill-treatment by Adiala jail authorities, party sources said on Friday.

The former prime minister has decided to take the step after being denied a meeting with party leaders.

A day earlier, several senior PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz, were refused to meet Imran Khan in jail.

Sources close to the party revealed that Imran Khan had called party leaders to the jail yesterday to resolve internal differences between the two groups.

However, the meeting was not allowed to take place, leaving the PTI founder waiting in jail and the leaders outside for three hours.

In response, Imran Khan has instructed party leaders to refrain from bringing intra-party issues to the public and to unite against the alleged ill-treatment he is facing in jail.

The date of the hunger strike will be announced after consultation with the party, sources informed.

It's pertinent to mention here that the veteran politician has been in jail since August last year.
