Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar has told the Senate that PTI founder Imran Khan’s eye procedure could have been carried out at Adiala Jail Hospital, but he was taken to PIMS Hospital on his own request.

Speaking during a Senate session, the law minister said Imran Khan’s health was stable and the medical procedure had been successful.

He clarified that the condition affecting Imran Khan’s eye required an injection rather than surgery and that there were no further complications.

Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, raised concerns over Imran Khan’s medical treatment, alleging that his family had not been informed about his illness.

He questioned why Imran Khan was being deprived of his rights as both a citizen and a prisoner, warning that his eyesight could be at risk if proper care was not provided.

Senator Ali Zafar also expressed reservations, stating that PTI’s medical experts were not satisfied with the report issued by PIMS Hospital.

He demanded that two independent specialists be allowed access to Imran Khan and called on the Senate to direct PIMS to make the medical report public.

Responding to the concerns, Senator Tarar said Imran Khan himself had requested to be taken to PIMS, citing possible law and order issues and asking to be transferred in the evening.

He added that the prime minister had not issued any instructions to deny Imran Khan access to doctors or medical treatment.

The law minister further stated that the current government respected human rights, contrasting the situation with the arrest of Rana Sanaullah in the past, when, according to him, access to medical care had been denied on the instructions of the then prime minister.
