In a landmark infrastructure initiative, Pakistan is on track to complete the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass in Islamabad within a record 35 days.

The underpass is a key component of a signal-free corridor project stretching from Islamabad Airport to Murree, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and improving commute times for residents and tourists.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the construction site and reviewed the project's progress.

Naqvi also instructed authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction period through effective alternative routing plans to minimize disruptions.

The minister highlighted the long-term benefits of the project, noting that it will reduce traffic congestion, especially near Kashmir Chowk, improve accessibility to Murree, and result in time and fuel savings.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the minister on the current status of the project.

He reported rapid progress on both structural and road network components and expressed confidence in meeting the 35-day completion target.

According to CDA officials, the underpass will span 479 meters and include three traffic lanes. The plan also features the expansion of an adjoining bridge with two additional lanes on each side, along with the widening of four nearby slip roads to further ease traffic flow.
