In a first, woman candidate clinches victory in Chitral elections

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Chitral has first time witnessed the victory of a women candidate, Suraya Bibi, in general polls, contesting elections from PK-1 of provincial assembly as a PTI-backed independent candidate.
Suraya secured over 18,000 votes against Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam's (JUI-F) Shakeel Ahmad, who clinched over 10,000 votes.
Suraya Bibi became the first woman in the history of Chitral to win the general elections.
She marked another history, as she was the first woman in the said area who contested a general seat in a provincial assembly.
Suraya Bibi's victory is the cause of celebration in the region especially among the women, while the people of the province also expressed their satisfaction that a woman won from Chitral for the first time.
