KARACHI: An Indian aircraft traveling from New Delhi to Jeddah was compelled to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Saturday due to the serious health issues of a passenger.

According to aviation authorities, an IndiGo Airlines flight was operating within Pakistani airspace when a 55-year-old passenger experienced a significant health crisis.

The flight's captain was alerted after initial medical assistance was administered.

As the passenger's condition worsened, the pilot reached out to Karachi Air Traffic Control to request an emergency landing.

Following the approval from the Karachi Area Control Centre, the flight was redirected to Karachi, where it landed without incident.

A medical team from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority promptly boarded the aircraft to provide medical care to the passenger, who is an Indian Muslim, and administered the necessary medication.

Once the passenger's health stabilized, the aircraft was permitted to continue its journey. Airport officials confirmed that the flight returned to Delhi instead of proceeding to Jeddah.
