Indian Foreign Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed felicitation to Pakistan over hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s 23rd Summit (SCO) in Islamabad.

“India has provided full support to make this summit successful,” said Jaishankar while addressing a gathering of foreign leaders in the federal capital on Wednesday.

Earlier PML-N President Nawaz Sharif expressed the need to improve ties with neighbourly countries for the development and stability in the region. 

“We are gathering at a time when the serious situation prevails across the world, and two great disputes are underway, which have different impact on the globe,” the Indian official noted.

He also expressed serious concern over climate change, which was changing the world’s dynamics rapidly.

“Severe weather conditions, uncertainty in the supply chain, and financial instability are the obstacles that averting the development.”

Indian FM believed that debt is the biggest issue across the world, as "Covid-19 caused intense harm to developing countries".

He emphasised that cooperation should be founded on mutual respect and sovereign equality as the world was following the path of potential development to reach its target.

After arriving in Pakistan on Tuesday, he attended a dinner organised by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the two leaders exchanged pleasantries.
