The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday stated that the recent drone attack in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan, which killed four children, was carried out by “Indian-sponsored Fitna Al-Khawarij.” The military’s media wing also dismissed claims suggesting the involvement of Pakistani security forces in the incident.

“Following a tragic incident on 19 May 2025 in the general area of Mir Ali, North Waziristan District, which regrettably resulted in civilian casualties, unfounded and misleading allegations have been circulated by certain quarters, falsely implicating Pakistan’s security forces,” read the ISPR statement.

The military further condemned a “coordinated disinformation campaign” aimed at discrediting the security forces and undermining their counterterrorism efforts.

Following the allegations, an investigation was launched, which, according to ISPR, “established that this heinous act has been orchestrated and executed by Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khawarij.”

The statement emphasised that the continued targeting of civilians reflects an attempt by hostile actors to sustain terrorist activities by exploiting vulnerable targets.

“Such tactics aim to unsuccessfully sow discord between the local population and the security forces, who together remain resolute to uproot the menace of terrorism,” the military added.

It also vowed that those responsible for the heinous attack, which claimed the lives of innocent children, would be brought to justice.

The drone strike, carried out using a quadcopter, targeted civilians in Mir Ali, killing four children and injuring five others, including a woman.

In response, local residents held protests against drone attacks, refusing to bury the deceased and demanding the perpetrators be brought to justice.
