Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters expressed outrage at Islamabad residents for attending a concert by Pakistani-American singer Bohemia, accusing them of ignoring the alleged "massacre" of protesters on November 26.
Imran Khan's supporters criticised the lack of empathy, lamenting that people chose entertainment over addressing the suffering of their fellow countrymen.
“Islamabad during Bohemia’s concert earlier today. You really believe this nation is ready to fight for its rights?” an outraged user wrote on X.
“Less than a week ago, this city faced the worst massacre, but they turned up in huge numbers for a music concert. Disappointing.”
PTI claimed that during a combing operation by security forces, hundreds of its party workers were injured, and dozens were killed while they were demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Supporters were further angered by what they perceived as a lack of sensitivity from the government.
On November 26, Islamabad descended into chaos as clashes erupted between PTI supporters and security forces.
Key routes were sealed, internet services were partially suspended, and violent confrontations left the city in disarray. The aftermath revealed broken cars, shattered mirrors, placards, bullets, tear gas shells, and other remnants of the unrest on the streets.
PTI protesters continue to call for justice for those killed and the release of those arrested during the crackdown. The sight of a lively concert in the same city where violent disruptions occurred just days earlier fueled their anger.
Some PTI supporters went as far as calling for a boycott of those who attended the event.
