The Sindh government has postponed the final exams of intermediate across Sindh due to the ongoing hot weather and predicted heatwave.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the postponement of exams on the recommendation of the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ali Malkani.

A spokesperson of the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards confirmed the delay of exams, scheduled for May 22, will commence on May 27.

In response to the CM's directive, a notification has been issued by the concerned authority.

However, the development came after the prediction of a severe heatwave, which the Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD) said could hit the major cities and plain areas of Punjab and Sindh from May 21 to May 27.

Meanwhile, several areas of Sindh have been witnessing a high-temperature minimum of 36 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office warned that daytime temperature will remain four to six degrees above normal in both provinces during the week.

On Friday, Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that all public and private schools will operate from 7 am to 11:30 am from Monday to Thursday.
