Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that the government's efforts to pass the constitutional amendments have been postponed indefinitely.

Despite the all-out efforts by the ruling alliance, the government could not table the bill as the meetings of both houses were adjourned for an ‘unidentified period’.

“Maulana Fazlur Rehaman’s arguments are justified, and he has not opposed the amendments. However, Fazl required some time to review the amendment draft,” said Siddiqui while talking to Geo News.

Expressing the hope for support from Maulana, he said currently, the number game was the main issue, as JUI-F was satisfied with the government’s recommendations in the constitution.

Both sides in parliament need Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s support to complete the number of 224 votes in the National Assembly and 64 in the Senate.

In this regard, the political saga continued later at night on Sunday as the delegation of ruling allies, including chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as well as, a delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a meeting with JUI-Chief.

Subsequently, the newly announced Awam Pakistan Party’s (APP) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail also visited Fazl.
