Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) will decide after Eidul Fitr whether to join hands with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in an anti-government movement, party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Fazl said JUI-F’s consultative council would review the possibility of aligning with PTI.

While acknowledging that tensions between the two parties have lessened, he pointed out PTI’s internal divisions, with key leaders, including Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, still imprisoned.

The JUI-F chief warned that unilateral political moves could further destabilize the country. He also emphasized former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s potential role in shaping the current political landscape.

Fazl stressed the importance of dialogue on Balochistan and suggested that JUI-F could contribute to Afghanistan-related matters if approached by the government.

PTI has been actively seeking alliances against the government, following Imran Khan’s directive to strengthen opposition ranks. In January, PTI formally invited JUI-F to join Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), its opposition bloc.
