Dumper driver rams robber's bike to foil heist in Karachi

A dumper driver thwarted a robbery attempt in Karachi's Manghopir area by crashing his vehicle into the muggers. One robber was killed, while the others escaped.
The incident took place in Karachi’s Manghopir, where eight robbers attempted to stop dumper with the intention of looting the driver.
However, the driver refused to give in to the robbers’ demands, taking matters into his own hands and ramming his vehicle into one of the thieves.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) East, Tariq Ilahi Mastooi, stated that following the driver’s action, one robber lost his life, while others fled when police reached the spot.

He added that a weapon and the deceased robber's motorbike were taken into police custody. The police are attempting to identify the robber.
Meanwhile, a raid was conducted to apprehend the remaining outlaws involved in the incident.
Notably, the port city witnessed at least 10,356 street crime incidents during two months of the year 2025, leaving twelve individuals killed and 41 injured while resisting a robbery.
According to the report, the statistics showed a 28.18% decline in street crime incidents compared to the same period last year. Even with a decrease in street crime, more than 48 mobile phones were snatched daily.

Karachi has recorded more than 50 road fatalities specifically involving dumpers in the first two months of this year.
Recently, rules restricting heavy vehicle movement were implemented in the city due to rising traffic accidents and public protests over citizens' deaths.
Last month, the provincial government banned the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during daytime, imiting their operation to 10pm to 6am.
